A Living Landscape
Step through the hand-built metal gates and enter a world where nature is not just present, but cherished. Over 17 years, this one-acre sanctuary has been lovingly shaped into a living, breathing ecosystem — a desert oasis in the heart of Truth or Consequences’ historic bathhouse district.
The land here speaks. Towering cottonwoods create a canopy of shade, filtering sunlight through leaves that shimmer like water. Around you, four pomegranate trees, a pear, apple, and almond tree, and three jujubes fruit in season, offering sustenance to humans and birds alike.
Pines and poplars rise skyward. Rosemary and za’atar sprawl low. Pampas grasses sway along the perimeter, generating a soothing whisper of white noise around the private hot spring patio. Desert willows bloom in bursts of pink, while mesquites, elms, mulberries, and a watchful Washington Hawthorne add texture, fragrance, and layered green geometry.
This is not a manicured landscape — it’s a nurtured one. Every tree is pruned with care, seasonal rhythms of growth and retreat are honored here, giving rise to waves of life that unfold throughout the year — above and below the soil.
Birds have long since made their claim to this land. Their songs form a continuous thread in the soundtrack of life on the property which sits on an ancient migration path. Cranes, blue heron, swallows, cross the property diagonally throughout migration season, a continuous audio and visual spectacle. On occasions, owls take up residence in the solar system, and for the keen observer can ben seen silently passing overhead a night.
